I honestly think it's a kanto game. When XY came out we got blazikenite which was only available for a short time and if you reset your game you had no way of getting a mega blaziken. This was obviously just a chance to get a first look at mega blaziken ahead of ORAS. Same thing happened with SM. We got the snorlium but now have no way to get it, and similarly with the Mewnium Z. In my mind it's fairly obvious that this is because there'll be another kanto game where we can catch snorlax in the usual places and get its Z crystal. Add to this the fact that Lillie goes to Kanto at the end of the game (and this gen so far has essentially been Lillie: the Movie)
