Poison moves are rare. The Fighting and Dark resistances the Fairy type adds are a huge benefit.

The defensive attributes of Fairy benefit him.

Offensively, he has no use for a Fairy move, since it would hit nothing that isn't hit harder by a Grassy Terrain-boosted STAB or a coverage move.

The Ground and Water resistances outweigh this. Quality of resistances > quantity of weaknesses.

Doesn't matter because Poison is a fucking shit offensive type.

It cuts the damage even further, and it wouldn't even have Grassy Surge if it wasn't a Grass type.

You mean the type that defines Bulu as a whole? The only auto Grassy Terrain setter that can also 2HKO non-quad resists with Grass moves alone? And its flaw is being a Grass type? Sure buddy.

Every dragon type that isn't hit neutrally by wood hammer takes more damage from a Play Rough than a Terrain-boosted Wood Hammer

I'm glad that poison is getting all of the indirect buffs it needs to be a viable coverage move. It was pretty much non-existent in all previous gens bar gen 6.

Even then, Band Wood Hammer packs enough power to OHKO Latios and 2HKO Buzzwole. Stone Edge can cover for dragons with a quad resist, and provides better coverage thanks to its ability to hit many other Flying and Fire types on the switch, where Play Rough wouldn't cut it.
