As a rival, he isn't too weak. Better than anything we've had since Gen 5 in terms of difficulty. Overall, I thought he was just a fun person.
Personally, though, he was my 3th least favorite character in SM. I didn't dislike him, but there's not too much to like about him other than his brightness. And I loved the "cucking" him part.
