i can totally see all of the starters evolving at least once, mostly because they added too much personality into their evolutions, especially Brionne, incineroar and dartrix.
And kukui getting a pokemon because he needs too is also kind of stupid, in the game you never see his team until you're at the league, so we could get the same surprise in the anime.
