Agreed. B/W tried and failed, but at least it tried. S/M isn't even trying to tell an interesting story. It's content to get by on funny faces, puns, and constant "Pokemon of the day" filler.

First of all, SM's comedy consists of more than just "reaction faces", and second, Ash has a clear goal of completing the island challenge. Plus SM has only just started. By the next season or two, Aether and the UBs will appear. Somehow I get the feeling you haven't even watched the show and you're just parroting what SM haters have said.

I've watched it, and it's bad. If they ever do start to develop a worthwhile plot instead of this "slice of life" shit, I'll happily give it another chance, but that hasn't happened yet. Maybe it'll get better, but for now, it's garbage.

We already know that Lusamine and Gladion exist. They've been seen in a photograph. They'll show up sooner or later.

And they're already "wasting" one of the movies on a retelling of Season 1 or whatever shit it is. Which means a movie each for Necrozma and Marshadow, and one for something from Gen 8. They don't need to save the UBs for a movie.

Ash and Ash's duck sucking is worse in SM. Everything else, the animations, the characters and everything else is better in SM.

On the better other characters part. This excludes Ash, of course. While BW's Cilan was great, Iris wasn't. And the sheer number of new good characters wins against BW's one great character.

What's left to see is Ash's team. I love Oshawott, and to some extant, Krookodile. Nothing in SM so far compares to those two. The rest of Ash's BW team was kind of shit, though.

I feel like your judging a little bit too quickly, we are only 16 episodes in, and quick reminder it's the first season. If you really want to see sm at it's peek, just wait until season 2.

Then the following might happen.
