In hindsight, I wish I'd recorded the game. I forget exactly what it was, I think I'd gotten some unlucky spins earlier on. He ended up turtling on his back line, so I started arranging things carefully while he was trying to stall me into losing, and he ended up being forced to allow the Salamence to be surrounded, which threw him off.

Zard is only good if you can get Charmeleon to evolve. Otherwise, just a B tier mon. 1MP with mostly 100 damage isn't good enough.

no, the expected average value from 50 damage fire spins at a 56/96 chance (before upgrading) is 120 damage
it won't ever LAND 120, but the average will work out to be 120

you need at least one EX powerhouse to get past 2.1 now
there are a lot more players, people know how to stop Shuppet and Deoxys-S
if you dont have something that can roll some form of high number you just get wiped out by shit like Ho-Oh

With all the Mews running around, evolving it should be easy. 58.33% of getting Iron Tail, can use X-Attack to overpower it if it used Psychic. As someone using five unevolved pokemon, Mew is a godsend.

You can always get a 2MP pokemon to the goal point before an opposing 3MP Pokemon can get to it, so there's no use using a plate. I get a 2MP pokemon to the point, and then once their 3MP pokemon covers one of your entry points, get one of your other Pokemon to knock it out. I'm going against loads of Mews lately, so this works out great for a team such as mine with a few unevolved pokemom, as I can evolve one either for free or by using double chance/x-attack, depending on the Pokemon.

To be honest, I gave up using a goalie. Maybe I'm just a lot worse at the game than I thought, but I kept ending up in situations where I have to go on the offensive but had one Pokemon on the goal point not doing anything. I usually place Vibrava and Magmar/Deoxys within two spaces of the goal, or if I need to play more offensively I use Vibrava as the goalie. Sliggoo hasn't been doing much though, so I'll probably get an actual goalie.
What do you mean by chicken/rush game?

When I use Sliggoo to try to cheese a win, the opponent usually just places two Pokemon at their goal so Sliggoo gets surrounded if it spins Slippery Swap. While Goodra could spin Muddy Water to move them, I end up asking myself why I'm not just using Magmortar for Flame Gun instead (I evolve it from Magmar so it's 3-star). What's your team?

He's a fun and decent little fucker. If you utilize his arena trap he can be useful. Without it I wouldn't use him. I dont usually evolve because arena trap is the main use for him unless i have the upper hand and do it for shits and giggles. Its good to use him against shuppet and ghastly if you put him the the corner of the samw side, you can trap them and if you level him up to lvl5, you completely get rid of his miss slice. 2star purple plus protect that is almost 50% of his wheel, that will make the opponent think about who he attacks with sometimes because they can just end up wasting turns.

He's a utility type mon, not a rusher or an attacker. Bring a switch plate for more arena trap shinanigans like in my pic.

Flygon's not bad, but I reccomend you evolve it froM Vibrava so it can not only turn into better Salamance, but also cancel Soar.

When evolving Vibrava I reccomend confusing a mon that has miss wedges between each of its attacks such as Yveltal, Chesnaught, and Fug. It's pretty crazy in concept but since Confuse ray is decently sized and 2 star, it works out better than you would think.

I understand variance. I took probability and statistic courses in college. Honestly, the prize wheels really do seem rigged.

I've been collecting data from the quest mode prize wheel. I played stage 2.10 100 times. Each time I won, I clicked the spin button. My results were

89 red
1 blue
10 purple

I then played the stage another 50 times. 25 of those times, I simply spun the wheel myself. The other 25 times, I positioned the center of the purple/blue half on the bottom of the screen.

The results:

Spin the wheel myself:
14 red
8 purple
3 blue

Position + spin button:
8 red
13 purple
4 blue

I need to get up to 100 times with each technique but I figured 25 each was okay for now. I need to do more trials with manual spin and position + spin but honestly, look at those results for just clicking the button and tell me there's nothing weird going on here.

Blue + purple takes up more than half of the wheel. I should not be landing on red 90% of the time when red is < 50% of the wheel. Something is not right.

they can split it off and just do the 50 damage brain link, or just wait until mew rolls psychic and kill it through that
it has a 90% chance to land a white attack in its 3 spins, so mew has a really small chance of actually killing it (close to 5%)

having something that beats 120 damage is good (deoxys A is probably most reliable even with slip) and pray they don't get a 57% confuse
or something with a purple knockout like magmortar or lucario, and again pray they dont get the 57% confuse

running a metagross helps, but you're still gimping yourself by having a 1mp fig
basically they're still completely broken and have no right existing in this state

I'm not positive on it but the fighting cup started as soon as the flying cup collection time ended so I'm banking on the dragon cup starting when the fighting collection time ends

shuppet keeps it's tier since even the Deos and Reunis can fall for WoW shenanigans and keep going ahead, while Latios can't do much against that white chunk (Latios was the one who scared others because of luster purge, even Yveltal, but the new meta just brushes it aside with raw power)

Latios+Latias user here. I can do well enough with the rest of my team and I mostly use them for intimidation and other things. Latios can get rid of Shuppets, S-Deoxys, Genesect, Greninja and other 3 MP things, and mostly anything really if you're lucky. Latias can let me win in one turn, if I get attacked or attack in the right place and get to fly over the other figure. It's a risky team but I'm going up and down between 2300 and 2500 so I'm fine with it.

My napkin math might be wrong, but I think how it works is
landing at least one fire spin: 56/96 ~ 58.33%

So using those values and some subtraction, I roughly get:
0 fire spin: 42%
1 fire spin: 24%
2 fire spin: 14%
3 fire spin: 8%
4 fire spin: 5%
5 fire spin: 3%
6 fire spin: 2%
7 fire spin: 2%

If want want the median damage of a fire spin (way more useful than average), we just ignore the chance of not hitting a fire spin at all and just focus on the fire spin rolls, and the math is the same. So 50 damage has a 42% chance, 100 damage has 24% chance, 150 damage has a 14% chance, etc.

And reuniclues is only 1,800 material, so 1,800 gems spent on boosters (36 singles, 18 doubles) would give enough material for one, certainly. So that's a maximum of $80 worth of gems that would need to be spent normally (or $62, if you consider the nearly expired Gem Boost event).

its not complicated

the sum of an infinite geometric series is a great and fast way to eyeball an expected result for these types of moves

it doesnt matter at all if it wont hit 120, the entire point is to know where your result is PROBABLE to land.
saying that knowing the expected value tends towards 120 is useless is tantamount to saying "knowing that it was a 80% chance to land didnt help me because I didn't land on it"

But what we're disagreeing here is just the wording, that's all. Saying that the expected value _tends toward_ 120 is not the same thing as saying the expected value _is_ 120, or that 120 is how much to expect.

Meanwhile "a 80% chance to land" means exactly what it says on the tin. A four out of five chance. Yeah, it might miss, but you know that, because it isn't a 100% chance to land.

expected value is the term used in probability theory, it doesn't necessarily mean an expected result

as a similar example the expected value of rolling a die a large enough number of times is 3.5, although you obviously would never land on that
