NPCs with actual dialogue and some semblance of an existence
the ability to make decisions that impact the world around you
more detailed world worth exploring with people and pokemon actually in it
pokemon customization (displaying held items as well as a second slot for optional aesthetic items)
IVs replaced with unique physical characteristics
more gender differences
alternate colorations besides shinies
tangible recognition and purpose for your goddamn achievements and cool things you've caught/collected
more roleplaying in the fucking roleplaying game in general

good luck though, but really there's nothing wrong with things like refresh/followers that just contribute to the atmosphere, it's a big part of the game afterall

How? If anything it's the other way around. Following Pokemon have a set list of messages that's shared between all of them, whereas in Amie/Refresh every Pokemon has unique animations, likes, dislikes, and even more unique animations that show up when you interact with them at higher levels of affection (Minior's face disappears when it sleeps, Shedinja CAN'T eat, Hoopa-U sleeps levitating in midair with one arm propping its head up, Slugma can't be pet, etc.).

Also, what if the petting simulator included the actual player character and not just a detached hand floating around poking your pokes. I'd like to see more pokemon specific activities like spar-boxing with Hitmonchan or wrestling with Machoke.

the thing with refresh is that while it is detailed as fuck with each individual species being differentiated, one member of that individual species is still going to act and behave the same as any other member of that species, and it doesn't really change all that much as you gain more affection as far as how they act in refresh itself

followers had like a pool of maybe 10-15 unique dialogue lines but they felt much more impacted by your own actions and treatment with that very particular mon, it was fun watching them slowly start liking you more as you progressed in your adventure, and while in themselves they weren't all that detailed they were still good imagination-bait and you could pretty easily fill in the blanks without straining yourself

plus, with a modern implementation it could be much more detailed and different from the basic implementation we saw in HGSS

both of them have great potential and I'm excited to see what GF does with them in future gens

OP again. In my game there will be much more interaction with your pokemon: Following will return, you can snuggle and cuddle your pokemon, The player's avatar will participate in poke-specific activities (See>>31999035) This includes being dominated by Tsareena, naturally
I also plan to have every NPC be different in not just looks but personality, likes/dislikes, etc. and be dateable with the option of choosing one trainer from your "harem" of gf/bf's to marry (however this will end all your other romantic relationships so choose wisely). Befriending trainers will yield bonuses depending on their class and what Friendship level (0-4) you are with them (Ex: Collector - Rare pokemon appear more frequently, Fisher - No more "No bites", etc.)

First of I want all of these features back (and in a single game):

Second I want the narrative to be absolutely minimal and the world to be somewhat open. The player should decide their own pace and where they want to go next (within reason), and the story should be told via optional tidbits that you can pick up and piece together by talking to NPCs and reading books or journals. In other words, it should generally be modeled after Johto.

Third, I want much larger and longer dungeons in the games. Even the biggest and most complex dungeons in this series - Seafoam Islands or Mt. Coronet for instance - can still be conquered in a flash with just two Max repels. I'm talking Zelda kind of dungeons here - between 50 minutes to well over an hour long depending on your aptitude, assuming you go through it for the first time with no prior knowledge, and with plenty of puzzles and obstacles.

Lastly I want regular patches and updates to adjust the game balance along with transparancy by the developers in the form of videos or forum posts where they explain their thought process behind the changes and respond to feedback. Oh, and I also want there to be two regions.

And as for obstacles in dungeons, let's get talking about unique obstacles. Like, "boss" wild Pokemon (or two, doubles) that are far stronger than the rest of the wild Pokemon found in the area and they're blocking where you need to go.

They could change the types of Pokemon being found in an area changing due to some shit going on. Also, maybe they could throw in some unique interactions with wild Pokemon.

And more things to interact with while surfing would be cool. Just being able to do more out there would be good. I detest surfing in almost ALL the games.

And if we could do more with the legendaries outside of story/catch/battle with 'em, that'd be great. Like, Soaring was a great start.

Basically, Pokemon desperately needs an entertaining, engaging overworld.

The one thing I disagree with is the minimal narrative. You can still have a strong narrative without railroading players, and a narrative doesn't have to impact on exploration. See Mass Effect for example, a strong branching narrative and an open, explorable world work well together.

It'd be cool if in the future we had conservation missions/quotas we could use to get rid of tons of breedjects and do things like influence spawn rates/HA frequency and the like, maybe tighten the constraints on inbreeding again so you'd actually have a reason to go out and make use of them.

Reserve moves on pokemon, as in you can have up to 7 moves total, as in 4 in use and 3 reserve moves, but to switch moves comes with a penalty in BP for attacking moves or accuracy on status moves.

Move tutors that aren't in the battle tree, such as Extremespeed Dratini; as well as QR code move tutors to teach pokemon event/XD moves like Wish to Chansey.

Ice should resist water. Bug should get a new attacking move that applies inverse battle rules instead of normal rules.

2 new teams, Team Dominus and Team Lux.
Team Dominus:
Believes all pokemon should become strong. Modifies the pokerus virus to eliminate nearly all of pokemon in the wild with the survivors strength being doubled, which are then caught by Team Dominus for genetic engineering.
Leader- Declan

Team Lux:
Believes that certain pokemon are special. Modifies the pokerus virus to mutate nearly all of the pokemon in the wild with the survivors gaining new moves, shiny colors, and abilities; but makes many pokemon sick and weakened permanently as well.
Leader- Lucrexia

Also, different pokerus strains besides the EV doubling kind.
