As far as I'm concerned, Game Freak has a big boner for Gen 5 fossils, and probably Gen 4. Especially Archeops when it comes to Gen 5, though. Gen 6 actually has VERY good designed fossils. Tyrantrum is better than Aurorus, but that's good too. Too bad Aurorus is mainly weighed down by it's typing, albeit the type combo being VERY interesting. Omanyte and Omastar are mainly popular for them being a meme (no matter how funny, unfunny or forced it is) but Kabuto and Kabutops, though being forgotten in recent years, do get some praise for being great designs. It's generally Aerodactyl that gets A LOT of attention unlike the Kabuto and Omanyte lines. It seems Aerodactyl mainly gets attention from Game Freak though, and not a whole lot the fans.
