so? you can say that about many other pokemon, like sableye, charizard, blastoise, venusaur, scizor, metagross, alakazam, gyarados, beedrill and pinsir, and last gen you could add medicham, lopunny, gallade, gardevoir and ampharos.

That's like saying lele needs an ability to not be trash. Sure it does need it, but it has it, don't know what you're getting at.

No I purpousely left out those whose megas are not necessary to be good, sableye is bad, charizard is bad, blastoise ba, venusaur is bad, scizor is arguable, metagross is bad, alakazam is arguable, gyaradostoo, beedrill is horrible, pinsir is bad, medicham is bad, lopunny is horrible, gallade is bad, gardevoir is bad and ampharos is the worst on that list

Ubers is a playground for the best in the game. Of course there's a huge gap. You don't use "good" pokemon in Ubers. You use the ones that would be broken anywhere else.

Your setting a ridiculously high benchmark if you think being comparable to those monsters is necessary for being good.

Scizor is decent, but not as good as it used to be, the lack of bullet punch hurts it so it needs the mega

Gyarados is just UU's salamence.
