Lack of pokemon diversity and poor distribution. I kept on finding the same pokemon on every route, and they were all shitmons. Not to mention every new pokemon introduced was slow and had retarded evolution methods that didn't let you use them until near the end of the game. The trials got old pretty quick, and towards the end of the game when I had a full team of 6, fighting the totems were laughably easy. The game had several cut scenes in it, that when viewing the first time, were pretty cool, but I could tell that I wouldn't want to watch them again upon replay, and there is no way to skip them. Shit like defeating the champion for the first time and having to sit through almost a half an hour of game before I could save an shut it off was extremely annoying. Also, after beating the game, u was very dissapointed in the postgame being exploring two routes, then catching Ultra Beasts. It would have been really cool if there was a whole island that you could travel to postgame and do something there, but the game and overall world just felt really small and confined. Also, there isn't a fast and efficient way to train up pokemon to lv 100 for competitive play like in the past games. Even without the Blissey bases in ORAS, I was able to quickly level up pokemon using sweet scent and horde battling, but that mechanic is replaced with the vastly inferior SOS battles which are annoying and tiresome, especially when trying to catch a pokemon. Also, there was a bunch of lag and loading time in the game. Double battles were a nightmare to look at, and after every wild battle, there was a solid 3 seconds of a black before returning you to the area. This along with lag time when changing locations really frustrated me at several spots in the game, and made level grinding take even longer.
tl;dr the game was poorly though out and feels like it is just banking off the fact that gamefreak can get you to buy anything because of the name on it and we'll buy it no matter what.
