Aside from nostalgia, this is why I've always preferred Colosseum to its sequel. The atmosphere is much better. Gale of Darkness offers me no reason to replay it over any other main series game.

Same, I replayed GoD recently but I couldn't quite get into it. Colosseum manages to lure me in almost instantly.

He was originally supposed to be the big bad in Gale of Darkness.

But then, the writers changed it because having the protagonist of Colosseum be a bad guy all along would've undermined that game's experience for a lot of people.

GoD had shit characters and shit atmosphere.
Retconning Orre to be a coastal region was also stupid.

The only thing GoD did better than Colosseum was the purifying chamber.
