It used to be that in GSC, a certain weight bracket would be unaffected by the Heavy Ball, but HGSS merged that bracket with the -20 one.

I wish that O-Powers were still in the game and applied before the apricorn ball catch rate changes.

I haven't tried using a heavy ball, but does that mean that any pokemon with a similar weight as Beldum become impossible to catch with a heavy ball? Or is Beldum a special case for some reason?

Also why even store the result in a temp variable then return it at the end. You could just return the amount once you reach those areas since "result" can only be written to once. This would also remove the need for an else statement at the end. The last line would just be return -20.

But no, really. The idea of a Pokeball is that it can catch anything. With varying chances, yes, but any ball should have SOME chance at catching any given wild thing at any given time. These clauses outright prevent that for a specific ball, something that has never happened before. Not much of an "Agh, I'm angry, boycott GF" thing. More like a "Wow, that's actually pretty lazy" thing.

All balls are a multiplier with none multiplying by 0. This is except the Heavy Ball which adds value to the initial capture rate. As it's -20 if less than a certain amount, then it becomes 0 for those Pokémon

Theoretically this also includes nearly every box legendaries in existence. Now if a Dppt remark appears and Heavy Ball keep this coding, Heavy Ball Dialga will not be a thing.

Two completely different things. One is very easy to overlook or miss while the other is very easy to spot/go through just by playing the game. I'm not a drone. C'mon son, don't be a dumbass. You're argument is poor as fuck. Game Freak has what, over 700 Pokemon to program? It doesn't take a genius to realize that something like this is easy to miss especially considering Beldum is from Gen 3 and Heavy Balls were introduced in Gen 4 I believe. Beldum's catch rate probably hasn't changed since Gen. 3.

You store return values in temp variables for debugging purposes. That way you can step through and see what the value is after it's set but before it's returned if there's an issue and you're getting weird results.

Metagross looks good in premier, timer, dusk and nest ball if it is shiny, the effects fade to white upon entrance.

Ultraball, dive ball, heavy and beast ball look good on non shiny metagross.

Honestly people shouldn't just focus on the color of the ball but on the effects and sparkles the ball has, think of Tapu Lele many balltists prefer love ball for her, yet it is time ball and it's small white clocks that fade to red on entrance that make Lele look glorious.

People enjoy seeing the color of the ball match up on the status screen a lot, that's why people catch Ice-types in dive balls. It matches, and matching is a pretty basic autistic instinct. The opening animation is a pretty minor thing to many because the animations change with every gen and it might not match in the next, while the basic status screen ball will.

Yeah, I hope they keep the red.
It's just that they changed ball animations significantly in each successive installment after gen 4, so I don't choose based on animation. Gen 5 timer? Giant clock animation Gen 6? White and red normal animation outwards. Gen 7? multiple little clocks appear with red.
It's just not reliable.

Im just saying timer ball gen7 burst into pink followed by little white clocks that fade into red is really pleasing to the eye.

Some of the arcade versions had a bug in the bounce circuitry, as in an error on the pcb. Shakes are only based on absolute catch chance in Gen 1. Gen 2 onwards shakes are determined by how close that specific roll was to catching it. If the catch rate is 0%, but RNG rolls a very good catch (the same type of roll that would catch a 3 catch rate mon) you'd get a few shakes because the algorithm thinks you're close to catching it since the numbers are close to your negative catch rate.

Go onto bulbapedia's catch rate page and look at "shake checks".

It's a little more complicated than I posted, but the general gist of the shake check system is to have the shakes happen when a Pokemon capture is missed (always in Beldum's case). It also goes over the different quirks in each shake check system per gen.

The problem here is that every other ball applies a multiplier to the formula.

However the Heavy Ball adds or substracts from a value in the formula. With Beldum and other mons the ball has a -20 value. This produces a result of 0 in a piece of the equation, which results in everything multiplying by 0 if I understood this correctly.

Now you can see why this will never go through, as there's not a single instance where this stuff multiplied by 0 will yield the result to catch the mon.

"illegal parent" should never even be considered. If a pokemon can be proven to have an illegal parent, that's because it is, in itself, illegal.

No other illegal trait can be passed down through legitimate breeding of hacked pokemon except in early Sun/Moon with unreleased egg moves.

Honestly, who cares if one parent is considered illegal? As long as the offspring meet all legal requirements and are in a possible ball, it's all good.

Until GF decides to implement actual family trees for each bred and hatched Pokemon (hidden from players of course), I'm still using my injected foreign Ditto to get competitively viable/shiny Pokemon.
