I can barely remember now, but I think that was before the... Mallow reveal? Before that, everyone had the right to question the legitimacy of these leaks(due to there being several fakemon artists, from the shittiest to the highest caliber), whether to prove themselves right for whichever reason or hoping they wouldn't become real, because of course that would imply being spoiled without warning five months early, potentially hurting the enjoyment of one's game (whether they meant to go blind or not).
After Mallow got revealed though, there was no turning back, you'd have to be in pretty big denial to still assume these were fake in any way. That was the turning point to me, at least, and I began to question more how these would work out in 3D, in the battles, but accepted more the probability of them being real, even though that fact itself did sour me since I wasn't expecting leaks that early.
Even if I entirely left the internet after that image first leaked and have the chance of forgetting about such leak, I'd still eventually realize that these were spoiled to me.
Of course that's over with, but Game Freak still fucked up big time.
