when i was a kid, my brother and i had a giant poliwhirl plushie (probably close to 3 feet in width) that we would drag around from room to room, depending on where we were playing. mom used to come lay down on the floor and use it as a pillow while watching us. she eventually took a serious shine to it, and moved it to her bedroom, where she used it as a pillow on her real bed.

Mine has told me pikachu, eevee, jigglypuff, and poliwhirl. It makes me happy she remembers poliwhirl, was my favorite as a kid and still my #2.

Jigglypuff. I used to watch the anime in the living room, and she always would happen to catch it when Jigglypuff sang everyone to sleep and drew on their faces. Never failed to make her laugh and as far as I know its the only pokemon whose name she knows besides Pikachu.

I have a very healthy relationship with them. I talk to them frequently. But that doesn't have any bearing on why I would ever ask what their favorite Pokémon is. It's just a very odd question to ask them, and I don't see how it would come up unless you still live at home and they wonder why you're playing that video game or watching that cartoon all the time.

Chikorita. One day I came home from school to find my mom playing my Silver version. I freaked at first because I thought I'd lost all my save data, but once I saw she hadn't saved, I wanted to see how far she could get. She made it up to Falkner with a team of Chikorita (named Cece), Sentret and Hoothoot. She stopped playing once it evolved into Bayleef.

My mom is basically a genwunner (not really aware of most of the pokemon past Mew) who favors pink blobs. Used to play pokemon Stadium with me and would have teams full of cutesy pink stuff. She loves shit like Chansey (her favorite) Clefairy, Clefable, Wiggyltuff, and Ditto. When I tried ot show her new pokemon the only one she could get into was Azumarill (not even Marill, just Azu) and said there were too many to keep track of.

Funny story, my mom works as a lunch lady at an elementary school and since she's heard about pokemon form me watching the show and playing the games, when this little boy asked her if she knew about pokemon and pikachu she said yes and she says he was very surprised than an adult knew about pokemon. That said my mom wants overall nothing to do with the games. she doesn't really get video games, but she's probably just happy i'm into pokemon instead of like drugs or something.

It's always been Eevee, ever since gen 1 back when she used to be a classic TCG gym leader at the local tabletop game shop. Not sure which is her favorite evolution, but regular ol' Eevee was always her favorite because it was cute and reminder her of a cat.
