Flying types have very little variety or appear too late in the game and if you chose Charmander then there's very little reason to use any other flying type.
A huge number of the Pokedex is poison types and if you don't like to double up on types, getting just one is heavily detrimental to your choices - which is dangerous any ways due to the power of the Psychic typing.
Every single Normal type was mono or Normal/Flying.
Three three stage grass/poison lines.
Every fire type but Charizard and Moltres is mono, these two sharing the flying typing.
Every electric type bar Zapdos is mono.
Free Lapras, who needs those other ice types that appear later.
