The ancient age was so full of cults shaped to worship one person as chosen by the gods/a god that there are coins made to honor such false prophets. Jesus was nothing special in that regard
What makes christianity different is that it has roots in Judaism, which is both something entirely different from the ordinary paganism and still something most people knew about already, thus it had both the appeal of something new and yet familiar and something historical
Another thing is that the message of jesus is a lot better than what most of the formerly mentioned false prophets had, they were just in it for the money, whereas Jesus wanted to spread a philosophy meant to help people cope with whatever was harming them. and because of that, unlike the other prophets, the idea would only be strengthened when Jesus finally died
