And is there any real reason my game can't just be connected to the internet all the time? Why do I have to repeatedly log in and log out all the time between doing stuff in the retarded festival plaza?

I like it because I can go to sleep and hatch eggs.
It also helps if you are hatching many eggs so you can actualy collect more eggs and hatch them later

One issue I have is I can't use zL and zR as L and R when in L=A mode.

The wild Pokemon that appear do change as you progress in the story, but it's never anything interesting.

Friendship=/=affection, dingbat.
Beans raise affection, Friendship is a different stat. But yeah the glitch is useful, although I dislike changing the time due to daily events.

Most hatchers hatch and collect a shitload of eggs, having a passive 18 egg hatcher is a godsend.

I would guess it's because of their odd structuring of having global link missions and such away from the other parts. I don't mind it because I like building up my bootleg Join Avenue and I only ever used the map in ORAS, but it would have been nice to separate it.
