It's just wider but thinner. In terms of weight they're almost the same. Lighter than the 3DS XL without joycon and slightly heavier with joycon.

I have only one problem with main games on Switch

GF clearly struggled with 3ds, you can easily see how much less content we've been getting in 3ds games in comparison to the DS ones.

Im afraid with Switch it will be even worse. Im pretty sure first Switch game will be filled with problems if DP and XY are any indication. The difference here is that after DP gamefreak recovered and all the games Pt-BW2 were awesome. But after XY GF showed pretty much the same level on ORAS and SM. Thats a bad sign for the future

Personally I think GF was restricted by the 3ds shitty hardware. They clearly wanted to make something bigger with SM.

They're a company with a massive experience and this wasnt their first 3ds game, it was third so they should've known what are their limitations. Look at freaking Yo-kai watch games. Whether you like it orr not there's no denying its a good example of a well done game at least from technicalities prepective. GF tried to do better graphics and it failed on may levels, limiting their options. Look at all those unfinished cities and halfbaked caves. Then there's all the lags and empty post game. Thats not a job well done

I think you guys need to accept that no pokemon game is fully finished.
Gen 1 had like 36 missing pokemon. GS was supposed to have a Safari Zone.
If they remove stuff its usually because of their deadlines, the hardware, their incompetence or all of them.

Sure first two gens were also unfinished but they were on Gameboy and that was the beggning for them. Gens 3-5 showed that they're capable of so much more but then gen 6 and 7 showed they've started to struggle again. SM is even more disappoinint than XY in that regard since they had a lot more free time this time around and most of the Pokemon models came from XY anyway

This. Unless they are completely restructuring their staff and who is in charge, I have little faith in the next title. It usually takes a whole for GF to get used to a new development platform, and this is going to be their biggest leap yet.

That is absolutely wrong. Square Enix and Level 5 have made far more competent Jrpgs that have taken advantage of the 3DS hardware far more than any 3DS Pokemon game, and they all run better too.
GF can't even figure out the advantage of using lower poly battle models for Pokemon.

Given the technical quality of their last three attempts at 3DS titles, that's not exactly a good thing. It's just been getting worse too. Either Gamefreak needs to change direction and buckle down on optimization that other JRPGS have managed to do right with the 3DS, or just move over to the Switch where at least they'll have some more breathing room for their incompetence for another gen or two.

No, it's called being smart with your money.
There's literally no reason to buy a console that will either:
1. Break easily
2. monetize off of trading, and battling online. (Hell, we're already cucked for transfering.)
3. Will be scrapped by Nintendo for not meeting sales expectations like the Wii U.

Honestly the main thing that bothers me about it is the paid online service.

That and the fact that the only game worth getting on it right now is Zelda. If a Pokemon and Monster Hunter game were already available for the Switch I'd be more inclined to buy it.

I've got a Switch and would love the next game to be on it, but I doubt it will be if it's this year.

Historically, Game Freak have always waited until a console has a high adoption rate and a reduced price before releasing a game on it.

Gen 2: 1.5 years after GBC (plus it could be played on original Game Boy)
Gen 3: 2 years after GBA
Gen 4: 2 years after DS
Gen 6: 3 years after 3DS

Because Pokemon is becoming shit, and once it switches to a new console I'm done with the series. Not that guy, but literally every console gets a picture like that of a load of developers who end up releasing one port, which everybody ignores, then never doing anything again. Wii U had a huge number of companies to boast at its announcement. Wii had a huge number of large developers active for it, but they weren't games anybody wanted.

All of the Switch's best-selling games will be 1st/2nd party games and after two years 3rd parties will stop bothering.

Handheld mode is widely reported to run better, probably because it runs at 720p rather than the 900p that docked mode uses.
I don't really know why they wouldn't just keep it 720p for both though.

Because the Switch supports 1080p, it was just forced down to 900p for BotW because it wouldn't run properly.

That is impossible. I've played both versions and Wii U BOTW shits itself up majorly when I'm in Kakariko. Switch only slow downs in Korok Forest, and it does it less than Wii U did.

3DS was $250 at launch
Switch was $300 at launch

With inflation, that's almost exactly the same, and significantly cheaper than PSP or Vita.

Inflation rates aren't the same in the UK as they are in America.
3DS was £229.99 at launch from HMV, Switch is £279.99. Inflation rates for 3DS original would have it at over £20 cheaper today.

By your logic every single Nintendo system is not good enough because every single one has had games too big for constant 30 or 60 FPS. The 3DS being particularly bad since it has framerate issues in a super non-interactive RPG like Pokemon. Hell it stutters a little in Mario 3D Land if alot is going on-screen.

Scratch that to every system. Bloodborne has drops in PS4 Pro.
