>>32192314I really don't get the "pokemon looks like digimon" thing when people bring it up.
Digimon are typically characterized by a lot of small details such as wrinkles or armor lines to accent their base design, and as much as I love both digimon and pokemon, digimon often do have the "spikes" that people seem to dislike on Pokemon like Garchomp, but in a much higher degree. They also don't shy away from imagery typically too "gross" for pokemon, such as Numemon's eyes or the slimy looking, unkempt hair on many of the bug digimon.
The art style is also completely different for the majority of them, different shading, different linework, different eye styles, bodily structures, and even the creature basis for many of them.
Basically, if Buzzwole were a digimon, it would have shading that emphasized a clear color of skin, a lot more "scuff" marks and wrinkles, possibly wearing armor, and would be much less clean looking in general. The shoulder spikes would be sharper, the muscles would be veinier, it might be holding a weapon. It would also probably have a much different color scheme.
If Wargreymon over there was a Pokemon, it might keep the helmet or a shoulderblade, but chances are it would either go full robot or no armor at all. The claws and spikes would be softened, the eyes would be more friendly looking (or the eyeholes of the helmet would be enlarged to give it a look like its peering out of the helmet). The skin would be smooth and less veiny, the hair would be cleaned into a puff rather than individual hair strands.
