Status moves and type matchups don't make any sense. Sand Attack can hit Flying-types, Confuse Ray can hit Normal-types, Eerie Impulse can hit Ground-types, Purify can hit Steel-types, and while Thunder Wave can't hit Ground-types Static can still paralyse them.

I mean fuck, there are heaps of Ground-type attacks that leave the ground. Mud Slap, Mud Shot, Mud Bomb, several others I can't think of apart from Thousand Arrows and Bonemerang...
