Progression is the biggest part of an evolution and it growing out of the goofy, unstable aesthetics to something refined and soft helps build character for both Goomy/Sliggoo and with silly strengths and gives Goodra a strong parental/friendly role of looking after the other two.
No Pokemon is going to disappear forever due to having an evolution, so I can't find any reason - myself - to be upset by any changes made to Pokemon while evolving.
