It can't fly. At least not at high speed. Even if it can somehow stay in air using its fins as wings, it would be extremely slow. The only way I can imagine it flying fast would be jumping with a lot of power, going fast. It cannot create speed with its wings, but maybe with legs, it might work out.

Either way, how the anime is depicting it is just wrong.

It just says "flies" in the Pokedex. That can mean just moving through air. Even being hurled counts. So yes, technically, just jumping would be enough.
And Pokedex says Charizard melt boulders. And we all know how well a Zard does in front of rocks.

Yes, it says flies. Not "as though flying" or anything indirect like that. Straight up flying. You have no substantial proof of it doing something 'akin' to flying.

Charizard still damages rock types with fire attacks. Enough of them will melt them.

Garchomp can run a special set though

Save for Earthquake, all of its special moves hit harder than their physical counterparts

Draco Meteor > Outrage
Fire Blast > Fire Fang
Surf > Aqua Tail
Earth Power < Earthquake

If it weren't for Earthquake, Garchomp would be more viable as a special attacker than a physical one

I've never had issues with it because I used a Mamoswine on my first playthrough and I knew what to expect on my second+ one

How is it considered with Lando-T now? He still has better utility than Garchomp with typing and Intimidate.

I like to use Garchomp myself but VGC2015 and 2016 screwed over Garchompfags hard. Can't imagine it being viable in similar future formats like with NatDex being dominated by Lando-T and Legendary by P-Groudon.

He can outspeed all the Tapus, except for Koko, and hit them hard. Even if they run scarf ScarfChomp can still do it. And when he runs Scarf he can also outspeed and kill Koko. Landorus cannot do this same thing no matter what.

A intimidated Chomp looses to Lele and Bulu. Outspeeding them means little.

How does Chomp hit Fini hard? With Z-EQ? Lando can do the same+higher damage output. All these advantages don't seem that significant really.
