Fire is pretty much spot-on.
Water and Grass are not as clear-cut aside from Greninja and Sceptile being the most popular (and I suppose Meganium being the least popular grass starter, I guess).

If they ever held another one of those I expect Decidueye to be pretty high up there, but not as high as Sceptile. Same for Primarina, it's gonna be ranked pretty high overall and probably either second or third place among the water starters. Incineroar seems to be more popular in the west than it is in Japan, so it's gonna be around the same or slightly lower then Delphox.

I was under the impression that Primarina was not very popular by virtue of being a trapmon.

One could say the same about the Fennekin line but don't forget that that entire line is feminine-looking, while Popplio has masculine features, turning a lot of people off.

Most people aren't autistic and judge their favorites by how much they like the design, not by a stupid symbol or percentage in the game. The people bothered by the gender or that prefer one over the other are gonna reset to get it, just like they did for Meganium, Delphox, Blaziken (apparently?) and Serperior (or most of the others in case they got a female). Popplio has no masculine features whatsoever.

No idea what order the less popular ones go in, though. I just have a decent idea what the top 3 or 4 are for each of them. I know gen-1 and stuff that is pushed like Greninja and Blaziken is popular as hell, though not necessarily on /vp/ since we have so many contrarians. When they push shit, kids eat it up like candy and we're too old and jaded to fall for it most of the time. But there are way more children than old jaded fans out there, and believe it or not, kids tend to like the gen-1 stuff thanks to how hard it gets pushed, like getting free starters in X/Y and Alola forms and shit.
