Skilled trainers win with their favorites" but the cold hard facts is that some pokemon are just naturally better than others in almost every regard, hence Garchomp, a statistically good pokemon vs Decidueye, a statistically bad pokemon.
And for the record, Decidueye is actually the worst of the alola starters. The other two aren't particularly spectacular, but they're stats and moves certainly lend themselves to a unique use. Decidueye is just all-around trash.
