Why did gamefreak cuck dragons?

Ice deals with groud/drag and fly/drag which are common and the introduction of fairy just cut them down hard.

Dragon used to be powerful in a special way and now they are only viable because of generally great stats.

Also side reminder that the only dragon moves in gen 1 were dragon rage and twister.
