In fact if you haven't really noticed yet, we know nothing about rowlet, but the fact that he's smart in battles,and he likes ash, and steenes scent. But aside from those few things we know nothing. Mostly due to the fact that he's asleep all the time, but that's only because he's nocturnal. And they keep on purposely not showing him in the night. What's the big deal, they keep on avoiding rowlet having too much screen time in the night, are they hideing something from use about rowlet. Makes you think.
And also, unlike the other egg pokemon. Rowlet was is far more important then them. And forgive me if that sounded a little mean, seriously tho, sorry. Unlike the other pokemons we've seen hatch from eggs, they hatch either at the end or the middle of the anime, But we've seen rowlet hatch straight from episode 4, not to mention he's a starter, and they wouldn't show us that scene if it were useless, it's just like litten and his vision of moonland dying, and his final story is that the dog dies, but as for Popplio and rowlet there story's are just waiting to be explored next. And judging from tap Dat lele, and the trial captain being a girl, I'm guessing it's Popplios final story next.
There doing exactly what they did to greninja and his backstory, they gave us a hint of it, then later on they tell use the full thing, there doing that with all the alola starters, litten was first, but they made the story interesting anouth to lure people in, it's only a matter of time until they show us hints of rowlets back story, I'm expecting it at the ula ula island part.
