People used to say that a protagonist would never own a Dark type (Evil type in Japanese), but Ash has had Scraggy, Krookodile, Greninja, and if his Litten fully evolves, he'll have Incineroar too.

It ain't on the poster. Lapras probably just made the cut because there's a scene somewhere in the movie where they have to cross some water. I half expect they changed it so Ash and friends are shown surfing to Cinnabar instead of taking a boat, to make it more game accurate or something.
