Exactly. Now, what happens if you make a new region without Pokémon? What about new Pokémon without a new region? Or new Pokémon as DLCs? Or like 10 new Pokémon in each game? Or Pokémon that never get distributed in the game they were introduced in and remain officially unobtainable?
Generations seem to have started to disappear in ORAS. SM pretty much re-established them again, but we don't know what's going to happen in the future.
That's why people were talking about a gen "6.5"

Look at the way they treated MegaEvolutions. We ARE eventually getting DLCs, there's no reason to deny this. Also they could always stop marking gens too. We just don't know right now. It was an assumption that made sense before SM were properly shown, right now it just seems way less likely, but things could change.

Yeah, they say a lot of stuff. Right now they "hate" DLCs because they aren't doing them and so it's just convenient to tell people what they want to hear. They always do this.

I'm just explaining why the gen 6.5 idea was born, it made sense at the time because ORAS was going in that direction. Of course, it probably could't be exaggerated like that just in 1 game, but you can't actually say it's impossible.

so do all other Totems not called Wishiwashi. Maybe either one of Lycanroc formes was considered for a Totem early in the game before creating Kahunas.

There was still a chance at Z happening after Volcanion was revealed, since they could've made a movie for a Gen VII mon the year afterwords like in Gen III. It was revealing Magearna and her being the true focus of the Volcanion movie that really sealed that Gen VI was over. Same could be said about revealing Mega Mewtwo, if XY hadn't already been announced.

Similarly, there's no Gen VIII Pokemon revealed yet, so there's a good chance at one last Gen VII game before Gen VIII gets announced next year, with a second SM movie focusing on a Gen VIII Pokemon.

If you think they're extending Gen VII any further past that with DLC or DP remakes or some shit though, then that crosses the line into delusional.
