I finally got out of the psych ward today after 5 days and I've missed pokemon so much.

I spilled the fact that I was nervous about being suicidal during finals to the wrong person and not my therapist.

When I got there everyone was confused as to why I was in there; I hadn't done anything and I wasn't suicidal at the time, I was nervous about the future

It was terrifying; during my hearing, because he forced me to go, it seemed like everyone disregards whatever you say because they think you're crazy

Well, when you first go in and you're they're involuntarily you get sent to the west wrong, which is for patients who are more "at risk", aka the people actually off their rocker. There was one guy, either sergio or Vernon I don't know he kept changing his name, who would get really close to you and start touching you and he'd ask you personal questions and it was hard to understand him and when you didn't answer he'd start screaming at you. That was pretty scary. Luckily I got moved to the "more normal" side within a few hours

Honestly, if you're there more than 2 days, it'll start doing more damage than good. Being cooped up in what looks like a fucking psych ward can actually make you go fucking crazy.

Feel bad for you, dude. People get pretty active with anything related to suicides these days, bleeding hearts feel good if they stop someone offing themselves I guess.

Best advice is probably just try and keep a lid on it unless it's to your therapist. Nothing you don't already know though. Welcome back.

That's what I had been so scared of! The moment you mention it people get on edge and stop listening to you and I was worried my therapist would do that. But it ended up boiling over.

I knew in my head I shouldn't have said anything, and while I was talking my brain was screaming at me to stop, but it just kept coming out. But im more comfortable talking about it now which is good.

Oh, here's the best part.

So I didn't originally go to the hospital I stayed at, Forbes, I went to another one closer to campus. I spent 17 and a half hours in their fucking shitty waiting room watching the 5 same commercials on their tv and listening to the same 10 shitty oldie songs, and maybe 3 of those hours were spent actually talking to people. Most of it was people coming out saying "it'll be about another hour" every fucking hour.

Now if THAT doesn't make you want to kill yourself, I don't know what would. I haven't talked to the counselor since, but I want to let him know that he put me through that hell. It won't change anything, but it'll make me feel better.

It's the little things, you know?

I'm just glad to be back. I started crying after the hearing, bc the doctor I was assigned made it seem like I would be staying another 4 or 5 days; I just wanted to see my dogs and family again. Luckily, afterwards, the doctor came in and said "sorry we had to say it that way for legal reasons, we're gonna get you out tomorrow"

The counselor tried to keep me there another max 20 days without even fucking seeing me like, I dunno. That hurt.

Just the way the system is, unfortunately. I'm sure they try to avoid being impartial in most cases, but the reality is there's too many to really do that.

I know, it's just scary hearing it. The whole place is just so depressing. All anyone wants is to get back to their families and homes. We try to stay happy and laugh it off, but it's so hard. Being in their is just so saddening.

Not the same guy but if you want my advice, try looking for ways to improve without them. Stuff like going for walks, getting some sun, even just cooking a nice meal for yourself. I don't trust my psychiatrist or the meds, so i've just been lying about it and doing these instead, and i've felt better lately, although i know this wont always work
