Hmmm...I have pondered this somewhat, but due to the change that SM presented, I started to think "why do I need gym leaders anyway?" Then again, I'm sure a lot of people questioned that even before this happened, and I did, too. It wasn't necessarily based on "me", but I once attempted to make a concept where the bosses were more based on colors rather than types, leading me to make a team consisting of pokemon that all had the same color prominent on them. Shinies and alternate forms were allowed. This primarily came from the matter that one of the more powerful trainers I made had a team of black pokemon, and I had a lot of fun putting together some black pokemon, which included things like Shiny Haxorus and Female Hippowdon. I forget what all went into this, but I considered it one of the more clever ideas I've had.
What if I just put together a straight up league what we normally see? 1. Why would I do that, I hate the very idea of the League, 2. I'd be hard pressed how I want it to be set up. I am personally a fan of dragon pokemon, does that mean that I want a team of dragons personally, or to just have a dragon user as one of my E4, since I find it more interesting to have a mixed team. What other types would be present? I guess this is another reason why the Totems more appealed to me since it could mean that I don't need to have types that are left out, which always bugged me about pokemon games, though S/M is no exception. Be that as it may, there is an expert for all of the types, save for one: the Ice type. Do I even want to do that or to come up with my own idea for testing your ability? Regardless, I am hardly qualified for being the leader of anything.
