Maybe it's because I'm tired of Fire starters in general after a really big run with them, but for me, if I had to pick any starter this gen, it'd have to be either Grass or Water and in concerns to what kind of mon I like, I just related/liked the Rowlet line more. That didn't mean I hated Popplio and Brionne, they're cute, it's just that I couldn't really picture myself with a Primarina nor am I really interested in the theme(s) per se. She'd be as easy of a pick to me as Rowlet was for me if I had liked the entire line, but when I see the starters, I just tend to focus more on the ones I like the entire line of (Rowlet is just a ball of feathers and Dartrix is adorable in a sort of way for being a bit of a dandy and his giggling reaction in Amie makes him even better while Decidueye is just mostly chill and also has cute Amie shit like the hood thing). Litten was cute, but at the same time, plain and as I said, Fire wasn't really my intent either this generation. If I had gone with him, I don't think I would have enjoyed Incineroar that much either. Torracat really put me on the edge to pick one though but at the same time, it's sort of what I felt with Primarina in concerns to Incineroar.
I guess I'm getting bored with Decidueye as a whole maybe after breeding a whole lot of them, so I'm not sure if I won't consider a Primarina somewhere down the line. Incineroar might have cute art from time to time, but something about his model in-game just puts me off (including the infamous way how he thrusts himself) and I barely even think of him at the same time. Which is kind of stupid, because again, I've been exposed to Fire one too many times and yet, I've grown used to mons like Charizard, Infernape, Blaziken, Emboar, with Meganium, Chesnaught and Decidueye being the exception.
