Gen 2, for example, I feel like my first line defense being a bipedal crocodile is safer than a pear that shoots leaves.
Or a fire-breaking, dinosaurian lizard would be better for combat than a turtle that blows bubbles.
So that's the approach is usually take, and I leave stupid shit like "b-but muh barafags" out of it.
