You know which stuff can afford to slow but also attack? Shit that can tank attacks from both sides of the spectrum, Steelix is not this.
Steelix is a physically defensive mon first and foremost and if you don't want it to feel like a deadweight then use it that way.
That's why Aurorus is shit, because despite having a god-tier offensive type it has defensive stats that don't synergize AT ALL with it's type because it's horrible defensively.
Always remember that Gamefreak is fucking retarded, use your head to see how a Pokemon should be used, not how they tell you should be used because they don't even know the game they are designing for.
