I think it depends if you run Calm Mind or not.
Power Gem fully invested has the same power as non invested Diamond Strorm.

Are there really other Megas that really benefit from this change? I know Beedrill loves it.

The only other Mega I think loves it this much is Lopunny.

Salamence, Lucario, Metagross, Medicham, Rayquaza and Gardevoir, Absol, Pidgeot all get much better speed tiers on Mega Evolution

Gengar, Alakazam, Manectric, Aerodctyl and Sceptile all get a good boost but don't really need it most of the time

Meanwhile, M-Garchomp just gets shat on further.

It's not AS bad since 85 is pretty slow anyway and it wouldn't outspeed a lot of threats one way or the other. Meanwhile with a lot of strong pokemon in the 95-100 speed range dropping from 102 to 92 is huge

That's a good idea only if base Diancie is faster than your opponent OR your opponent is a physical attacker, because +1 Mega Diancie has higher Special Defense than a +0 Diancie.

Gallade's problems is that he's one- dimensional compared to Cham, Loppuny, and even Heracross. Hes pointless to use if your aren't running SD + STABs+ Dark coverage. And even then, as a physical Psychic, Mega-Meta and Cham have immediate power right off the bat. Loppuny's unresisted STAB speaks for itself, and Skill Link ensures that Hera is going to effortlessly 2HKO the tier. Swords Dance or Sub.

gallade's problem isn't that it's one dimensional, it's that it's so middle of the road between lopunny and medicham. medicham is slower but so much stronger without the need to set up, meaning it breaks down walls better. lopunny has a lower attack stat, but it has much better speed tier and unresisted stab, meaning it fucks up offensive teams better.

gallade is just an awkward inbetween where it's not fast enough and not strong enough to the point that it can excel over both simultaneously (thankfully). if being one dimensional was the problem then lop and medi would both suffer, since they really only used one set anyway.

I don't think Loppuny even has one set. With two unresistant STABs you have like 2 free moveslots to work with. SubEncore, SubPass, SubPuP, PuP+coverage, Fake Out+coverage, Fake Out+PuP etc. Most flexible mega in the tier imo

in theory yes, but a lot of the other sets completely dropped out of use the longer oras went on. just because it could use them, doesn't mean it did. by the end of oras all lops were using were basically fake out, return, hjk and ice punch.

I'd say Sceptile is pretty similar power level in doubles and singles; in doubles you can use discharge alongside it or use it to protect things like Gyarados, but since it lacks spread moves and is easily OHKOd, it struggles to sweep teams in the same way many popular megas can; you get one big hit, then you go down.

It's even worse in doubles because the chance of the opponent having a SE move at any given time skyrockets and Sceptile dies to anything more than a moderate neutral hit. It can't use the boosts from Discharge because it has no special movepool and Grass is the worst type in the game.

Even if Steelix is worse, Sceptile is still horrible and the difference between the two is negligible. Hell, Steelix has the better STAB and movepool.
