I always have thought they have pretty weird designs. I mean when he games were announced i believed they were fakemons. Those odd Power Ranger Robot Digimon-like monsters.

I have mixed feelings about these guys. On one hand, I think their typings are pretty great and make a ton of sense, unlike a lot of people on vp. I also like the diamond and pearl motif, which I also think makes sense. That said, their overall design doesn't show their theme very well, and just seems to have too much random shit thrown together. Giratina is actually much better at conveying its theme through its design.

I think it's fitting that they look so otherwordly seeing how they are gods that represent the law of physics. It gives them a "final boss" vibe imo.

The problem with the lake trio is that they look too similar and that their design barely indicates what they're supposed to represent. Even a simple type change would do them wonders. Fucking mono psychic legendaries.
>Uxie: Psychic/Electric
Knowledge -> Neurons -> Electricity + fits the color scheme
>Mesprit: Psychic/Fire
Emotion -> Passion -> Fire + fits the color scheme
>Azelf: Psychic/Steel
Willpower -> Determination -> Steel + somewhat fits the color scheme. Psychic/Fighting could also work

They don't feel otherworldly to me at all. They don't have that same majesty the as the Tower duo, nor the bizarre weirdness of the Ultra Beasts. They really do feel like plastic toys more than anything else, and it's probably why I don't like them. If they were specifically mechanical mons created by an evil team, I think their designs would be loads better with that context and concept behind them.

Honestly, I don't really like ANY of Gen 4's legendaries, except maybe Cresselia and Giratina. It's like they went "how can we up the scale" without thinking about whether it would be ridiculous and dumb or making the designs good and varied.

I think they played it way too safe with their designs, to the point that they don't really represent the concepts they're associated with at all. They should've gone all out and made them as weird and ethereal as possible.

Pretty sad that Zygarde doesn't get to keep Aura Break and has to lose it to Power Construct, while its counterparts gets to keep their Aura abilities and doesn't need alt formes.

Never thought about it like that. I guess it's cool that they don't really make if they are not part pf the pokemon world. I just attribute my dislike of them to my dislike of gen 4. There are some good gen 4 designs but for the most part it's not my cup of tea.

I wish Dialga was designed a bit better. It just looks weird with the Alien skull and all of it's limbs splayed out like it can hardly support it's own weight. It has a nice color scheme and a cool power.

Perfect Zygarde should just keep Aura Break and that's it. Feels like a kick to the balls after completing Zygarde's quest and we don't even get the mecha form, but rather a gimmicky ability.

Anon, looking like a dysfunctional mess is a non issue when you have levitation powers. Dialga probably levitated in it's dimension for eons

Heatran is probably my favorite legendary from that gen. It should have been a regular Pokemon, though.

Discussing box mascot designs is a lost cause, it's far too subjective.

Gameplay wise is a straight up nope.

Palkia is one of the fastest box legendaries with the offense to back it up. Dialga is the only Steel/Dragon in the whole game with solid stats which alone is a huge merit.

If we're talking about worst lore and overall thematic design then that award hands go to the Gen 6 legendaries. This is fact, it's years now and we still don't know a single fucking thing about them. There isn't even a mention of them outside of their reveals, not a single shred of dialogue all game even hints to their existence. They just come out of fucking nowhere and exit the plot after being caught.

Even fucking Necrozma had more presence in S/M than all 3 combined did in X/Y at least getting a small mention in the main plot and hinted as being the missing link in a wider plot of UB's turning into Pokemon.

Yeah, it's pretty sad how under utilized the Gen 6 mascots were, including Zygarde and what mess it eventually became. The lore is there, it's just shallow compared to other trios, especially the Weather trio which I personally think have their lore best utilized, especially thanks to ORAS.
