Z-moves made Hyper Beam and it's physical equivalent less shitty now at least. If your using a setup sweeper with coverage issues, Z-Hyper Beam/Giga Impact is your friend.

I purposefully hold back against totem pokemon because I don't want to accept the fact I could one shot most of them and breeze through the game.

I beat Hapu with a fucking fresh caught lapras and a bunch of level one dragons I was training.

Z-moves are like Gems but 10x better. Attacking moves become one-time nukes with no drawbacks(no accuracy issues or recharge turns). Even using Explosion with the Normal Z-crystal doesn't kill the user. Its amazing.

I also do this thing where if I'm battling in an important battle like a gym leader I send in a Pokemon that recently evolved or I recently caught, this sort of ties in with the personality thing because I want them to accomplish something.

Also try to catch a specific gender for mons on my team, I don't like having shit like male Primarina.

I kind of do something similar to this. Not always, but it feelsgoodman. Oh and also the gender thing, I specifically like to have 3 mons be male and 3 mons be female so I can ship them and have a lovely family of pokemon by the time I beat the league

I do this too. I essentially roleplay when I play Pokemon. It's easy to create the motivations of your trainer when the characters is basically silent in-game

I give all my Pokemon personalities when I nickname them. I also imagine interacting with them.

Just an example of this I got really attatched to an Alolan Rattata because I gave it a silk scarf and in the Pokemon refresh he looked so cute when I pet him. And the image of how he looked with the scarf on was too much to handle. It was really hard to watch him evolve because I'm not a fan of the raticate model.

I hope so too. The original gems seem to be left to the past of gen 5, there's wasn't any new megas this time around, but we got the Z crystals. If the tradition keeps up the crystals will be forgotten by next gen. I hope the Crystals stick around, with new additions to the moves each generation.

Not only do I keep records of every single six-Pokémon team I use to beat every single Pokémon game, I also keep track of every fully-evolved non-legendary Pokémon I use with the ultimate goal of using all of them in at least one playthrough.

I didn't realize how autistic shiny hunting was back then, but lowkey that shit gave me a sense of purpose in my life. Nothing was more satisfying than getting a perfect competitive shiny to use on wifi. I'll probably get the shiny charm next gen and do it all over again happily.
