Gen 3 pokemon are the worst on every single thing. They made a lot of fans to quit pokemon for good or at least for years and created a generations of retarded (the ones that started with R/S/E).
We can thank the lord we had the so hated Gen 6 that made those fun come back.

And yes, that is the only solid design!

most of the gen 3 pokemon are rather good or atleast have a certain charme, however there are of course those that in my experience alot of people dislike.
Luvdisc and Marshtomp stand out to me but the whole Minun/Plusle and Volbeat/Illumise thing is also rather bland.
Still a rather strong gen designs wise.

Gen III has some of my favorite designs in the series, but it also has some pretty bad ones. I'd say it's a polarizing gen. Gen II's designs are the most consistent, I think. Not the best necessarily, but the most consistent.

I can't argue against the Dex calling it the most beautiful mon, but jesus is it bland as fuck, looking back at it.

I heard people calling Primarina more beautiful than Milotic, but blue wig and sea fashion trinkets plastered on pale anorexic sea lion to make it pass off as a mermaid isn't exactly my idea of pretty either and just looks borderline ridiculous as well. Maybe I just have weird standards.

I agree Primarina looks poor as well. Milotic doesn't look bland to me and I like it more than Primarina, but it does have some questionable features that seem to detract from its proclaimed beauty, like the hair and the holes/gills.

I always saw them a bit out of place, but never really thought of them as something the design itself wouldn't need. Whenever I see them, it always crosses my mind that it's so it's able to breathe. I'm not sure that's hair though, I think of them more as a extra layer of fins for whatever reason.

Don't move the goal posts now. That's not what you said originally. Anorexic would mean bones very visible bones/ribs through the skin. Is Primarina tinner than a typical sea lion? Sure. But not anorexic.

I honestly don't really remember Gen III designs too well. Their style and aesthetic feels really bland, and none of the designs really stood out for me besides Aggron, Crawdaunt, Cacturne, Babette, Shedinja, and Metagross.

Milotic always looked like a japanese spirit to me, at least its original sprite which looked more menacing/mysterious. Gen IV fucked up most of the sprites by focusing on making them too big.

Gen 3's dex is the weirdest thing for me. I don't dislike any Gen 3 mons but at the same time I don't really like any of them. Gen 3 was the "It's fine I guess" gen.
