That's not really what's being talked about here, obviously, but it's a point in favor of sex and gender being more complicated than just male and female.
There are different genders in different cultures, and there are all sorts of people that have different stances on what their gender is, and about what gender means to them. I'm definitely going to look twice at anyone who is legitimately bothered by how someone else identifies themselves, though, moreso if they seek to change the way that person thinks about themselves. That's some thought police bullshit.
