From the general difficulty of the game prior to the fight, the game seemed to be balanced around players not using the exp share or comprehensive team composition. For anyone taking the game as lightly as generation six, this fight was a sharp punch in the dick.

I've only ever heard of people losing to him when you battle him at the start of Ula'Ula, and pretty much entirely because of A-Raichu.

The only surprise I got from that is that he got one before me, and that was because I forgot Thunder Stone still does this evo and I didn't get one in Konikoni. I think my sundoggo ate him, but I don't remember.

I actually got a bit angry at that point and soft reset the game, having to do the Aeither Paradise segment again. I came back with Alolan Raticate in my team and decimated the Raichu, the other two monsters still put up a surprisingly tough resistance before going down

sounds like you just had a shitty unbalanced team. Never lost a battle in SM, only came close with Mimikyu and Salazzle and Salazzle was only because I boxed my wishiwashi for reasons I'm still not sure of.

A sudden STAB Psychic off 95 SpA hurts, so it's pretty understandable why some people had issues.

At that time I already had a Golisopod with First Impression so I OHKO'd it but on another playthrough where I had no real counters for it I had a lot more problems
