>>32440382To be fair, whether you like new Simpsons, old Simpsons, both or neither, they are objectively different shows. Season 1 was so down to earth it was basically animated Roseanne, and the wackiness slowly but steadily increased until I stopped watching in Season 12 before apparantly dialing back somewhat from 13 onwards. Homer became a bigger jerk, the writers seemed to gain contempt for the fans (see Comic Book Guy's scenes in the Poochie and Jockey Elves episodes), and they definitely became more willing to fudge character's personalities to make a plot work. One of the few recent episodes I've seen was from Season 23 or so where Homer loves spending time with the kids and becomes jealous when they become foodies with Marge. Homer doesn't give a shit about spending time with the kids. Also, all those restaurants they ate at - when did Springfield turn from a crappy midwest town into LA 2.0? And many people who were in high school or college when the show started have the same complaints 80s and 90s kids like me have.
tl;dr you triggered me hard so good job.
