Why?
Sun quite literally has the Popplio line color scheme, it's not just the shoes.
Kukui quite literally has Decidueye's color scheme, and it fits the "Professor side" of him, or the theme of someone "smart/nerdy that also fights".
Hau's ace is Raichu and has a perfect color scheme for it.
Chicken has Litten shoes and hat so I'm leaning towards Incineroar, but it also has the Rowlet color scheme and is the character with a Starter-dedicated clothing in the Primarina headband, so I'm not sure.

Or alternatively just go by the manga, which is Sun = Litten, Moon = Rowlet, Hau = Raichu and Popplio doesn't exist, which should make the Primarina haters happy.

But if Chicken picks Litten, Kukui doesn't get Rowlet, making the whole lineup fall apart. Kukui literally cannot get Rowlet if you pick Litten, the starter you're saying is the canon one.

Hate is a strong word, one I shouldn't use carelessly. I just like Incineroar the least out of the three.

Based on Kukui's team, Incineroar has horrible synergy, it shares all of its weaknesses with at least one of Kukui's mon, and it doesn't help his huge weakness to fighting types.
Decidueye is alright, it's immune to fighting, but then he gains a new weakness to fire.
Primarina fits perfectly, it deals with fighting types, but then he gets a type overlay with his alolan-nintales.
So basically both Decidueye and Primarina fits him, Prima a little bit more.
Primarina is also always female with him

That's just if you are going by the game's rules, though, in that case yeah, Sun may be the canon protagonist since it's the only way the shoes and color schemes make sense.
Alternatively you can not-follow the game's "canon" so both Sun and Chicken exist and they get Popplio and Litten, while Hau doesn't get a starter, since Raichu is clearly meant to be his ace.

This is what I'm talking about. The match-up in shoe theory is literally impossible to achieve with Chicken as protagonist. It only works with Sun as protagonist. So the theory is flawed and wrong.

If your argument is that all canon Primarina must be female, that's a bit autistic. GameFreak made it possible to have male Primarina for a reason, and it wasn't to just ignore them.

Both genders get utilized. Hau gets male, Kukui gets female.

Red having a canon team in HGSS doesn't mean your in-game team in FRLG is flawed or wrong: Hell, Red and Green's team in HGSS contradicts how they receive their starters, unless you take Yellow into account (and even then Green doesn't have any eeveelution in his team despite it being his starter)
