The region is named Woida (Big in Chinese) and is based on China and like Kalos and Alola the region is divided in sub-regions, this time there are 3 sub-regions: Woida Coastal, Woida Mountain and Woida Desert.
Starters are: a Grass-type Deer, a Fire-type Snake, and a Water-type Lizard. Their fully evolved formed are Grass/Fairy, Fire/Dragon, and Water/Steel respectly.
This region has Trials and Totem Pokémon, it also has Kahunas but they are called Monks and each sub-region has its own Monk.
New Gimmick is not a "new gimmick" but instead is an expansion of Bond-Phenomenon and Ash-Greninja. All Pokémon that has a Bond-Form must hold the Bond Stone to change its ability into Battle Bond (but only if it has a Bond-Form), its ability is changed to Battle Bond which now boosts more moves instead of only Water Shuriken. Bond Phenomeno was first seen in Woida Region and a Greninja was the first Pokémon who changed form, because of that you can also choose a Kalos Starter in the story. Chesnaught and Delphox have a Bond-Form and boosted moves are Spiky Shield (now does 1/4 damage to any opponent who does contact) and Mystical Fire (BP is boosted to 80).
There is no evil team, but instead you encounter the former Champion, his name is Confucius and he trains to become stronger, his signature mon is Bond-Mienshao (gains the Psychic-type and Zen Headbutt does damage to Dark-types). At first he is a good guys but when the story passes he turns more hostile.
The Champion is your father and his signature mon is Bond-Hitmonlee (Rolling Kick's BP is boosted to 90 and never fails)
