I'll start:

I've heard that it's basically confirmed that we won't get a new main game this year. Is this true?

If we are getting one, it'll be coming very late in the year and the announcement would need to come very soon. If nothing gets announced within a couple of months, there wouldn't really be enough time left in the year for a 2017 release.

Really though, all we can do is wait and see what does (or doesn't) happen.
