Also there are 5 years between remakes and only 1-2 year breaks between game releases meaning we will get a new Pokemon game in 2017 or 2018 with Diamond/Pearl remakes in 2019 and Generation 8 in 2020.

This, it's more likely to be 2019. They extended gens 3 and 4 one year because of remakes, but now they just don't give a fuck.

FRLG and Emerald came out the same year in Japan. Gen 3 was extended because DP were delayed a year because Gamefreak was having trouble moving to the DS.

Huh, did not know that. I always thought they gave gen 3 more time to give each game enough time to shine. Now the Battle Frontier season in the anime makes sense.

Me too, gens 5 and 6 felt way too short, 4 years is enough time for me to feel content with a gen and move on.

They would probably just have development overlap, to be honest

Making 140+ monsters and keeping half of them for one gen now and one gen later every 3 years will probably be the standard for the sake of mileage.
