To put it simply, pre-2012 sticky /vp/ was an absolute hellhole. You basically had two kinds of threads engulfing /vp/...

We all got together and told him that we needed moderation and dedicated mods to keep an eye on the board. There we're a few that said the same thing some shitposters say now whenever a meta thread comes up (make /vp/ red, delete the board, etc.) and Bui started to pornspam the thread out of sheer anger.
But in the end, we persevered and we got mods. For the first time on a long time we could actually discuss the franchise without fear of becoming a cesspit of porn and shitposting. The more dedicated shitposters still lingered, but they were promptly banned and their posts deleted.
Now fast-forward to the current day and you can see that the board has regressed somewhat. We don't have the pornspam 24/7 like we did back then, but it comes back every once and a while. Genwars switched out to Starter Wars and similar topics that can get past /vp/'s board rules. And if the last post was any indication, shitposters are still a thing.
