>>32492864/vp/, as a whole, was in a much better state than now.
Other than that, we really expected a lot of different things for the game. Initial speculation was if there would be entirely new Pokemon for it. While many were disappointed that Cactowl was fake, myself included, the fact that there would be more variety of Pokemon was of great comfort. The only "new" Pokemon were the Kyreum forms, and people generally liked them. There was a lot of artwork of the imagined "original dragon" spreading around.
As for the new characters, new Bianca was received well mostly because of her glasses. Those glasses and Charon's lack of them really gave fuel for the shippers. I still think BW Bianca is better. Anyway, both Marlon and Roxie were liked and there was a lot of fanart for both of them. The PCs and Hugh were generally disliked at first, but we got used to them. Especially Rosa's donut hair. Plasma's new look was very well received too.
Pokestar studios was liked for being new. People hated it at first when the game came out because of the section where it was mandatory to do it, but we loved it eventually. There was a lot of fanart for the costumes. But /vp/ went batfuck insane when word of the PWT came out. I mean, holy fuck, we were absolutely rabid for the game to be released. It was definitely one of the things we loved unanimously. No one really minded that the Subway was back since PWT came with it.
We had hopes that BW2 would ditch the linearity, but we knew that wouldn't happen. Still, the new locations looked interesting. Reversal Mountain's reveal lead to a dumb meme, Lentimas became Poke-Mexico, and people like Marlon and Roxie's cities. The fact that Unova's map was iced over led to the idea that there was a Battle Frontier somewhere. Some things never change.
