Guys, Japan always has a break year and since Main Games are being released in the same day over the world then we will have break years too.

Also there aren't Gen 7 spin-offs yet, so consider that this year we would get spin-offs (Pokémon Duel is a delayed Gen 6 spin-off)

It's not -always- a break between main games.
there was a break between BW and BW2, but not XY. Then ORAS came, again without a break.
Then there was a break, then SM

The last 10 years there's been three breaks, 2007, 2011, 2015.

Break years are kinda irrelevant. Better to look at actual gaps between games. From DP onwards we've had
24, 12, 12, 21, 16, 13, 24 months between games.

There won't be another gap of 2 years yet but maybe 16-18 months tops. Which means early 2018.

It could still be as little as 12 months, too.
And given how long the last break was, i kind'a think this one is gonna be a short one
Especially since there's two teams working on games, and the next release has potentially already been in the works for some time already.

Gap years are becoming less numerous, with the last games being sandwiched between gap years was Diamond and Pearl. Then again, it was highly unusual for FR and LG to share a release year with Emerald, so if they spaced Emerald out to 2005, Ruby and Sapphire would be the only games sandwiched between gap years.

I think looking at months rather than years is more pointless than looking at years, since you run into even more inconsistencies while doing that. You have things like Blue and Emerald being released independently, but still released in years that already got games.

Which is exactly why looking at "gap years" is completely meaningless.

There's a big difference between games released e.g. Dec 2000 & Jan 2002 and games released e.g. Jan 2002 and Dec 2004. Yet you are saying those situations are equivalent because there is only one gap year.

ORAS was a remake and we're not likely getting remakes this generation. A year break makes sense.

SM2/Stars/whatever you want to call it in 2018, then Gen 8 in 2019, then maybe DP remakes in 2020.

I'm actually expecting another drought like the one between DP and Platinum. GF and the Pokemon Company just finished celebrating the 20th anniversary, and to follow up on that would be Poke-overload. At best, I expect games for next year, and worse, dare I say, no games until the next gen. There's a chance for that to happen.
