It's understandable. Pokemon games have never really had engaging stories but seeing all the new sights and getting to field test new Pokemon, moves, and abilities is usually pretty exciting.

All of the first stages are pretty cute. I like both Decidueye and Incineroar. Don't care too much for Primarina.

The Chikorita.
Meganium is my favorite Jhoto starter. It has fair mixed bulk and served me well in both Silver and Soul Silver.

I don't really care for any of them but Incarnate Forme Tornadus is my favorite of the bunch.

It being the only pure-Flying type is pretty cool, and I deem it to be the base design of the three, with the other two being the carbon copies.

It's a mess, really. But I'd be lying if I said that there wasn't some fun to be found in it. I find the most fun in the lowest tiers like NU and PU, as well as Random Battle.

I would rather Gamefreak change a Pokemon's design, motifs, stats, etc. rather than completely remove them. I think there's a few Pokemon that I strongly dislike, but that's only because I felt their design went in the wrong direction.

For example, I feel like Zoroark would've been better if he were designed/named after a tanuki, since they're depicted as masters of disguise with their shapeshifting abilities.

Gengar is still an amazing Pokemon, so it doesn't bother me all that much.

I wouldn't let a nerf completely shut me down from using a Pokemon I liked either. I'd still use Gengar.
