You have two options
1. If the opponent did not lead with something that knows a fire-type move, start spewing spikes/toxic spikes/stealth rocks until they switch into something that knows a fire type move
2. If the opponent lead with a pokemon that knows a fire type move, destroy the button that will select Explosion (boosted with normal gem if they ever release them). If you do not explode immediately upon seeing a fire type you are using best nut incorrectly.
