Why is this thing so difficult to get hold of?

I never played HGSS and I loved GSC.
I bought a copy on eBay years ago and it was illegitimate and the save file corrupted every few saves.
Even the fucking rom I downloaded is corrupted and blacks out on me.
A used copy in my local GAME is £45...what the fuck I aint paying that for 3-gen old game.
I'm scared to get it on eBay again.

Is it worth the search? Is it unbearably grindy now that Exp is so easy to get in gens 6 and 7?

I use an R4 with my DSLite and even patched my rom to work with that custom online but only trading is implemented. If you wanna play on an emulator or get an R4 i can upload my rom if you want.

I was in the same situation (love GSC, hadn´t played HGSS) and I bought SS from Ebay last week. It was supposedly in "LIKE NEW" condition, according to the advertisement. I payed 50 euros for it.

Anyway, the copy is genuine (luckily), but it makes those annoying creaking sounds when squeezed and if this weren´t enough, the contacts are quite scratched.

I asked for photos of the contacts, and the seller sent them to me, but of course, the scratches on contacts can only be seen under some angles under the sunlight, and of course, they were completely invisible on the photos the seller sent me.

After a few days of not playing the game, when I tried to put it back in the console, it wouldnt detect it and tell me "no cartridge inserted", probably due to the scratched contacts. After a few tries, the console now reads the game properly once again, but I am scared to take it out of the console now, because it might not detect it again next time.

So now I can´t decide whether I should buy a second copy on Ebay, hoping to have better luck with the seller, or just stick wth my scratched SS and call it a day.

Anyway, long story short, HGSS is indeed a great game. One of the very best games, imo. But I am not sure if it is worth the bother due to how hard it is to get one on actual good condition.

Honestly, there are other Pokemon games that are just as Top Tier as HGSS, but easier to find (Platinum, BW2, ORAS)...

Anyway, long story short: the game really is great: probably one of the best. But I am not sure if it is worth buying, since other TOP TIER Pokemon games like Platinum, BW2 or ORAS, are so much easier to find,a nd on more reasonable price.

I dunno how much time I have to do this, since the problems only started apearing like a week after the game arrived.

Also, havind to deal with Ebay might be a pain. The game does look in very good condition from the outside, which is what tricked me.

Try getting a romhack of it, they tend to crash far less often than the original despite the fix, you just have to save every once in a while but it's playable all the way to the end

That's like 60 us bucks, right?

That's not bad. In my local secondhand game store they have several copies of SoulSilver, but they're 80 bucks minimum (lime 62 pounds, google says)
